Heather from Heather Green Photography posted a link about a new free software you can use to make a nostalgic polaroid-type look out of any digital photo file. It’s easy to use and it looks and sounds just like a polaroid camera, right on your desktop. The image appears slowly, just like it used to with a polaroid camera. Try it for yourself! And then join their Flickr group.

I made a storyboard of a client’s photos from a session with them. They were really fun to photograph. The husband kept cracking me up. My husband and I both took pictures, so these are from both of us. Check his photostream out here: www.flickr.com/photos/billmcfa/

Thanks Dawn!

This is my son and the girl he’s courting.
I used some free presets for Lightroom, and a free texture (image 1273) for the background, and one of my own wordarts. Here are the links to these products:

Another snow day photo
Posted 28 January, 2009 by Carol | No comments
The first snow of 2009! We had a few inches of snow on Tuesday, so the kids went out and shoveled the driveway and built snow forts and a snowman. I didn’t have a chance to take many pictures, but the girls were compliant and let me take their picture.

Our wedding day
Bill and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary this August. If you want to get a good laugh, check out our wedding photo from 1982. Yes, Bill had an afro! I must admit the afro was MY idea…I talked him into getting a perm, because I loved the natural, soft curls he had when his hair was wet.
I can still remember the look on his Dad’s face when I was perming his hair to get those soft curls I thought were so handsome. As I was putting in the curlers, his Dad was in the room reading the paper. He pulled the newspaper aside to peer over his glasses to look at his 6’3″ submarine sailor son wearing curlers, shook his head and went back to reading the paper. LOL! I guess he was prepared for anything by then…Bill was the one who enlisted in the navy at 18 and told his parents after it was official, and it was his idea to get his ear pierced and wear an earring before it was the popular thing to do. Bill didn’t mind having such an easy hair style back then…he called it his “wake and shake” hair.
We had a relaxing and fun day together on the day after our anniversary; sleeping in, shopping, shooting pictures, eating out and going to a movie. Sleeping in is a luxury we don’t have any more with the current work and school schedules. Speaking of luxuries, Bill went overboard and bought me a new camera lens that we’ve been wanting for taking pictures of ballet. I am now the proud owner of a Tamron 70-200mm, F2.8 lens! It’s AWESOME! The only drawback is that it is as heavy as a small child! It even comes with its own tripod mount! We went to take pictures of the beautiful landscapes and some barns that Bill passes everyday on his commute, and ended up meeting a man who owns a horse ranch and he invited us to take pictures of his wife teaching his grandkids to ride. It was such a pleasant surprise. The new lens performed beautifully. I’ll soon try and put up some photos that I took with it.
In the mean time, here’s a page I made about the new lens. I thought dh deserved a little shout out about it for being so thoughtful!
